Irene Bengtson

Irene Bengtson, 76, of Fergus Falls died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Hospitality House in Fergus Falls.
She was born August 31, 1938 in New York Mills, MN to Richard and Agnes (Kakoske) Stoltz. She grew up in New York Mills and graduated from high school there. On February 8, 1959, she was united in marriage to Leland Bengtson in New York Mills. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Sebeka. Leland passed away in 1963. In 1978, Irene began employment with Lake Region Hospital. She retired from that job in 2008.
Irene enjoyed growing and caring for houseplants, feeding the birds and other animals around her house, sewing, collecting knick-knacks and shopping. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Irene is survived by her children: Gary Bengtson of Fargo, Dean Bengtson of Fargo, Calvin Bengtson of Fergus Falls, Kayleen Bengtson (Wyatt Penke) of Fergus Falls and Marilee Bengtson (James Delaplain) of Plymouth, MN; five grandchildren: Jamie Upgrande, Jamie Delaplain, Nicholas Delaplain, Aaron Berge and Ethan Berge; two sisters: Lois Tervola of Henning and Alice (Don) Gedde of rural Deer Creek and a brother, Paul (Judy) Stoltz of New York Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family would like to thank the Hospitality House and Mel Frank and his staff for their generous and loving care they provided to Irene in her final days.
Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resuming for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Service: Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls
