Harvey Haagenson

November 1, 1923 — July 15, 2015

Harvey Haagenson, 91, of Clitherall, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at his daughter's home in Crystal, MN.

Harvey A. Haagenson was born on November 1, 1923 in Clitherall, MN, the son of Henry and Anna (Braaten) Haagenson. He attended school at District #176, a one-room school house. After receiving his education, he worked at International Harvester as a machinist, tooling and repairing guns. Harvey was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and attended artillery training before being sent to England, where he set up anti-aircraft protection. A proud WWII veteran, he served as a Staff Sargent with the 635th Anti-Aircraft Battalion in Europe. He was honorably discharged on November 17, 1945 and returned to work at International Harvester in Minneapolis.

Harvey met his future wife, Katherine Schindler, on a blind date and they married August 7, 1949. The couple purchased their first home in Minneapolis in 1951, where they raised their six children.

In 1960, he opened Harvey's Body Shop in St. Paul, before shutting the doors in December 1974, going to work at that point for Haas Auto Body until retiring in 1996. Harvey and Kathy moved back to the family farm in a new house constructed next to his childhood home.

Harvey's heart was surrounded with the love of his family, when he went into the arms of his wife Katherine, who was waiting for him in heaven. His loving, generous heart will be missed by all who knew him. Anything in need of repairing or restoring, especially cars, was his gift. Han var en god mann. Han vil bli dypt savnet.

He is survived by his six children and spouses, Mary Ann (Joe) O'Leary of Portland, OR, Grace (Bill) Wagnild of Minnetonka, Joan Brown of Crystal, Nancy Mohr of Minneapolis, Carl (Katie) Haagenson of Blaine and Melvin Haagenson of Minneapolis; Craig Susag of Minneapolis and Brad Henderson of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Marie (Marc), Paul (Jill), Tessy (Tony), Jeremy, Anna, Marc, Reid, Kate, Ross (Tessa), Eddie (Lilliam), Thomas, Katherine, Katrina (Ian), Ryan (Jenny), Jennifer, Bridgette, Matt, Rachael, Heidi (Cassie), Elizabeth (Trent), Kisha, Corey (Amilia); great-grandchildren, Felicia, Andrew (Katie), KayLee, Austin, Adrianna, Kaylena, Collin, Ava, Savannah, Lainey, Burkley, Andie, Sydney, Bennett, Kevin, and Nathaniel; siblings Milo Haagenson of Battle Lake, Leo (Anita) Schindler of Barnesville, Vicky Heille of Fargo, and Marie Boeder of Casselton; along with many beloved relatives and friends.
