Gladys Larson

Gladys Larson, 85, of rural Dalton, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Fergus Falls on August 16, 1931 to Lewis and Mabel (Sveback) Lofthus. She grew up in rural Dalton and attended country school. She worked as a nurse's aide at Wright Hospital in Fergus Falls. She also waitressed at a café in Fergus Falls and worked at the Pelican Lake Nursing Home in Ashby. Gladys also helped milk cows on her family farm. In May of 1952, she was united in marriage to Henry Larson. The couple made their home on a farm in rural Dalton.

Gladys enjoyed taking care of her cats, quilting, making potatoes and pies for the Dalton Thresherman's Show, making lefse, gardening, canning and making pickles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her great-grandson. Gladys taught all of her grandchildren the Lord's Prayer. She enjoyed the peace of the country and watching wildlife and could not understand how people could live in town!

Gladys is survived by her three daughters: Pam Larson of Dalton, Nancy Larson of Dalton and her special friend Harold McKnight and Joyce Larson of Fergus Falls and her significant other, Scott Anderson; four grandchildren: Darin Anderson (Billie Keep), Tessa Anderson (Brady Mahar), Tyrone Anderson and Mikayla Aaberg; a great-grandson, Brayson Henry Anderson; three sisters: Clarice Johnson of Fergus Falls, Lillian Bednarz of Detroit Lakes and Evelyn Rud of Underwood; one brother, Orval Lofthus of Detroit Lakes and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters: Mildred Solin and Edna Foshaug and a daughter in infancy.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Savior's Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church in Dalton.
Burial: Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural Dalton
