George Wagstrom

April 19, 1929 — May 15, 2013

George Wagstrom Age 84 of Mission, TX, formerly of Fergus Falls, passed away May 15 at his home with his wife Alice at his side after a 12 year battle with prostate cancer. He was born April 19, 1929 in Pelican Rapids, MN and grew up on a farm in what is now Maplewood State Park. He attended Pelican Rapids High School and completed LPN training at Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Clara Wagstrom and brother Douglas. George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Alice; son Brian (Liz) Wagstrom of Faribault, MN and their children Andrew of Sioux Falls, SD and Emily of Iowa City, IA; stepdaughter Diane (Paul) Ness of Blaine, MN and their son Michael (Rochelle); stepdaughter Donna (Reynold) Jager of Maple Grove, MN and their daughter Sonja (Brian) Lindgren and son Erik (Joan) Wasche; 7 great-grandchildren, Devon and Ethan Wasche; Sydney, Alexandra and Keira Lindgren; and Colin and Evan Ness.

George worked at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He and Alice spent their winters since retirement in Mission, TX and relocated there permanently in May, 2012. He enjoyed photography, dancing, auctions, hunting and had a lifelong love of cars. But most of all he loved people. He would strike up a conversation with whoever crossed his path. He was member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club, Elks and Eagles.

A celebration of George's life will be held 11 am Wednesday, May 22 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, TX or Maplewood Lutheran Church.
