Evelyn Gerlach

Evelyn (Evie) Henrietta Gerlach passed away Sat. Nov. 2nd at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN at the age of 85 with family by her side.
She was born to Henry & Nettie Pederson in rural Fergus Falls MN & graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1945.
In 1947 she married Richard (Dick) Gerlach & they made their home near Foxhome, MN, where they farmed for many years. They had 2 daughters, Kathy and Karen. Three grandsons Nathan, Matthew and Todd. Special granddaughter Deling, and 2 great grand-children Eleanor & Sophie.
They later moved into Fergus Falls. After leaving their home on Hoot lake, Evie moved into the Mill Pond Apartments in Pelican Rapids, where she attended Trinity Church. She later moved into the assisted living at the Fairmont in Moorhead, MN, where she lived until moving into the Lamplighter apartments & later Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes MN.
Evie was a hard working Christian lady who loved spending time with her family & friends. She was loving, generous, gentle and kind. She was very involved in her churches, especially Foxhome Lutheran when living on the farm. She raised a huge vegetable garden with lovely flowers; she canned and froze all of her produce. She loved cooking and baking and sharing with many. Evie especially enjoyed bowling on a women's league with friends for many years. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, puzzles, watching game shows on TV, word search books, playing cards, Bingo and her coffee.
Evie was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, Emil & Eleanor Gerlach; brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy (Corinne) Pederson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Pederson; brother-in-law, Wesley Weyhrauch and Dick Gerlach, who died in April of this year.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Jerry) Simison of Detroit Lakes, Karen (Alan) Arunski of Wentzville, MO; grandsons, Nathan (Sara) Arunski of St. Louis MO, Matthew Arunski of Olathe KS, Todd Simison of Detroit Lakes; special granddaughter, Deling Zhang, Detroit Lakes, (originally Quindao, China); great-grandchildren, Eleanor (Ellie) Arunski, Sophie Arunski; brother, Donald (Helen) Pederson of Fergus Falls, Roger Pederson of Fergus Falls; sister, Phyllis (Chuck) Green of Fargo ND; many nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly as she was loved so much by them all.
Funeral: 2pm Tuesday November 5th at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls
