Erma Carlson

Erma I. Carlson, 96 of Amor, Minnesota, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

She was born on February 9, 1919, at home in White Earth County, Waubun, Minnesota, the daughter of Michael and Margaret (Jaeger) Schriver. Erma attended grade school near Dent and the family later resided on the farm in rural Vergas where many wonderful family gatherings occurred.

On May 26, 1943, she married Clarence William Carlson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The couple lived in rural Underwood before residing in Amor Township where they ran a dairy and grain farm.

Erma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for over 60 years where she was active in Ladies Aid, was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and enjoyed quilting with the ladies every Monday. She served on the PTA for District 69, as a 4-H leader, Election Judge and the VFW Auxiliary #874. Erma enjoyed family entertaining for special occasions and faithfully participating in the church dinners.

Her hobbies included crocheting afghans and sewing. She loved the challenge of Scrabble, puzzles, crosswords, bingo and card games. She enjoyed gardening and canning for the winter, also baking many varieties of goodies for entertaining family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Michael and Margaret; husband, Clarence, a grandson, Troy Allen Duenow; a granddaughter, Barbara (Carlson) Lowell and a daughter- in- law, Arlette Carlson; two brothers, Walter and Clarence; seven sisters, Ludvina, Edvina, Marie, Rosa, Bertha, Goldie and Ruth; a brother and sister in law, Phillip and Hazel Payne.

Her family includes four children, David (Judy) Carlson of Amor, Diane (Wayne) Duenow of Fergus Falls, Larry (Roberta) Carlson of Ottertail and Steven (Virginia) Carlson of Moorhead; 15 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Christine Carlson of Crookston along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation: Friday, May 1, 2015, from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Amor. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Amor.

Interment: Amor Cemetery Arrangements are with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
