Delores Sandberg

Delores Sandberg, 88, of Fergus Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Lake Region Hospital.
Delores Elaine Erickson was born on March 31, 1927 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Daniel A. and Esther (Vall) Erickson. She attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls. She attended Deaconess School of Nursing in Minneapolis, where she received her Registered Nursing diploma in 1948.
She married Duane N. Sandberg at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church in Minneapolis on August 28, 1948, and they were blessed with two daughters.
The family lived in several places over the years, including Fergus Falls, Bismarck, ND, Syracuse, NY, Columbus, OH, eventually settling in Eugene, OR for over thirty years, where they helped start a Lutheran Brethren Church. Aside of raising the family, Delores worked as a registered nurse. In 1991, Delores and Duane retired, returning to the Sandberg family farm near Underwood, MN. Following Duane's death in 1998, Delores moved into Fergus Falls, where she has since lived.
In her spare time, Delores enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveled many places, including Germany, Norway, Alaska, and Canada. This past summer, Delores traveled with her younger sister to visit their sisters in Minnesota and Michigan.
Having a strong, personal faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, she served Him faithfully her whole life. Her ministries included sending greeting cards for all occasions, was a Broen Home volunteer, Deaconess and pianist at many of the churches she was involved in, and was Chaplain of the Gideon's International in Fergus Falls.
She loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Delores is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Tom) Gregersen of Eugene, OR and Charleen (Tom) Bichel of Evansville, WY; five grandchildren, Chuck (Nicole) Hall, Sharlene (Travis) Daggett, Jamie (Justin) Frick, Cade (Allyson) Bichel, and Ross (Beth) Bichel; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte (Bill) Anderson of Brainerd, MN, Louella (Bob) Hirons of Detroit, MI, and Dorothy Baderman of Gilbert, AZ; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Duane; son-in-law, Dave Hall; brother-in-law, Al Baderman; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Elton) Kuhn.
Memorials are preferred to the Gideon's International.
Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church
Memorial Service: 10 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
