Debra Zempel

Debra Zempel, age 57, of Fergus Falls , passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 at her home after a very courageous 17 year battle with cancer.

Deb Zempel was born January 8, 1953 to Lyle and Norma (Muchow) Thom in Fergus Falls , MN . She was baptized at United Church of Christ and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church , East Friberg . Deb attended Country School District #1495 through 6 ^th grade in Friberg Township and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1970. She attended Fergus Falls Community College where she received her LPN degree.

Deb married Dale Zempel on March 11, 1978 and lived in Blue Earth for one year and then moved back to Fergus Falls . After returning she was employed by Pioneer Home in Fergus Falls for 30 years, until the time of her death. Deb belonged to the Red Wing Collectors Society, member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church , enjoyed yard work and loved to read. She loved spending time with her friends, especially her children and grandchildren. Deb enjoyed auctions where she and Dale worked together.

Deb is survived by her husband Dale; sons, Nathan (Angelina) Zempel of Fergus Falls and Brett Zempel of Bozeman, MT; mother, Norma Thom of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Hunter and Emma Zempel of Fergus Falls; sisters, Terry (Doug) Kugler of Erhard and Becky (Marc) Shearer of Fergus Falls; brothers, Daniel (Stacy) Thom of Alexandria and Peter (Jody) Thom of Fergus Falls; mother-in-law Cleva Zempel of Truman; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
