Curtis Bengtson, 47 of Greeley, CO passed away October 15, 1012 in Greeley.
Curtis Delyle Bengtson was born on July 22, 1965 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the son of Clinton and Janet (Johnson) Bengtson. Curt was confirmed at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church and grew up on a farm south of Battle Lake, MN and graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1983. He graduated from Alexandria Technical College with an Associate Degree in Finance in 1985.
On May 9, 1987 he married Debbie Egeness at Faith Haven Chapel south of Battle Lake. Curt spent several years in the banking industry before joining the family business, Campus Music, in Greeley in the 90's. Curt enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring old cars and spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. He had a large garden and also did his own canning and loved making jelly to give away. Curt recently restored a 1935 Ford pickup that had been setting in the woods at the Bengtson Farm for many years. He was politically motivated, very conservative in his viewpoints and had a great love of history. He loved his children and grandchildren and was extremely involved in all of his family's lives. He was very selfless, had a heart of gold and enjoyed taking people "under his wing". He was strong willed and everyone he met found favor in him. Curt was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Debbie of Greeley; son, Jeremy (Hannah Parish) of Minneapolis; daughters, Jennie (Corey Sloat) of Loveland, CO and Amber Bruntz of Greeley; grandchildren, Nigel Schmalzer, Shelbie, Mollie and Gary Jones III, and Candence Bruntz-Hansen; his parents, Clinton and Janet Bengtson of Battle Lake; mother-in-law, Norma Egeness of Greeley; brothers, Craig (Lisa) Bengtson and Chris (Penny) Bengtson of Battle Lake and Cory (Tena) Bengtson of Omaha, NE; and sister, Shannon (Chuck) Worum of Underwood and by numerous relatives and friends. Curt was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Memorial Service: 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake
