Clarence Olson

Clarence "Bud " Olson, 86 of rural Clitherall died, Thursday October 13, 2016, peacefully in his sleep at home.

Clarence Alfred Olson was born on February 22, 1930, by Vining, Minnesota the son of Clarence Sr. and Hilda (Rakstad) Olson. He was baptized in the Folden Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Bud attended Country School in Folden Township and Central High School in Minneapolis. He served with the US Army during the Korean War, serving with the Infantry in Korea.

Bud and Rose Ann Justin were married on February 5, 1955. After their marriage they lived in Minneapolis and then moved to their home in Richfield. He was employed many years as a Plumber with Swanson and Schieger Plumbing of Richfield, retiring in 1988. Bud and Rose then moved to their home, which they built on their hobby farm in Nidaros Township. He was an avid outdoorsman with a special affection for animals. Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, animal watching and especially loved his dogs. He was an active member of the Folden Lutheran Church and had good memories of helping with the building addition, along with always looking forward to the pancake feed. Bud was a generous man, people enjoyed listening to his stories, he could always make you smile with his clever sense of humor and his Budisms. The love of his life was Rose Ann and they cherished their family and friends. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, he touched those he new and will be missed by many.

He is survived by three children, Karen (Greg Sandberg) Olson of St. Louis Park, Cynthia (Randy Quinn) Olson of Eden Prairie and Joseph (Mary) Olson of Wadena; four grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Herman, Olivia and Emma of Woodbridge, VA., Charlotte (Matt) Lachowitzer, Kalin, Ryker and Krimsyn of Mapleton, ND, Andrew (Kate) Wiecher of St. Louis Park and Eric (Samantha) Olson of Wadena; three granddogs, Spanky, Knute and Daisy; brother, Richard Olson of Henning; and by numerous relatives and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hilda Olson; his wife, Rose Ann Olson on October 4, 1997; eight siblings, Noranda Corrine, Adeline, Herbert, Alice, Donald, Viola, LouAnn and June.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Folden Lutheran Church of rural Vining.

Visitation: one hour prior to the service

Clergy: Rev. Rud Wasson

Interment: Folden Lutheran Cemetery
