Charles Wulfekuhle, 76, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his home, under the care of his family and Lakeland Hospice.
Charles Henry Wulfekuhle was born August 12, 1937 to Henry and Viola (Schemmel) Wulfekuhle in Breckenridge, Minnesota. His early years were spent on the family farm where he started helping out at a young age. He attended country school in Connelly Township. Later, the family moved to a farm near Wendell, MN. Charles entered the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division in January 1957 at Fort Bragg, NC, and served until June 1962, when he was honorably discharged.
Chuck married Rose Jochim in 1963 at Long Prairie, MN. The couple lived on a dairy and hog farm near Wendell, raising their family. In 1987, Chuck started working for Minn-Dak Co-op and retired in 2009.
Chuck enjoyed farming, and hunting in his early years. He enjoyed going to Wahpeton/Breckenridge for coffee with his former coworkers, time at The Viking Café, annual pie making with his brothers and sisters and family reunions. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Wendell Lions Club.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Rose of Fergus Falls; his six children, Bobby Wulfekuhle of Fergus Falls, Rodney (Chris) Wulfekuhle of Ogilvie, Cheryl (Jason) Klosterman of Mooreton, ND, Randy (Karen) Wulfekuhle of Fergus Falls, Dean (Nicole) Wulfekuhle of Sauk Rapids, Vicky (Kevin) Muchow of Fergus Falls; his 14 grandchildren; Shawna and Heather Wulfekuhle, Wayne and Jake Wulfekuhle, Ethan and Nicole Klosterman, Tanner, Rachel and Henry Wulfekuhle, Ffion, Imogen and Mollie Joseph, Andrew and Amber Muchow; great-grandson Kason Leegaard; his beloved companion Sparky; sisters, Virginia Miller of Chetek, WI, Donna Spellerberg of Lidgerwood, ND, Karey (Allan) Mackey of Waverly, KY, Genevieve (Will) Tomky of Larmar, NE, Lovie (Bruce) Brough of St. Paul, MN, Joyce (Don) Swendsrud of Monticello, MN; sister-in-law, Alice Kuhle of Moorhead, MN, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Viola; siblings in infancy, Rita Mae and Joseph Charles; brothers, Leo and Jim; sister-in-law, Emily Wulfekuhle; brother-in-law, Jerry Spellerberg and Leo Miller; nephews, Kregg Kuhle and Lenny Miller; niece, Karey Wulfekuhle and great-niece Emily Harpole.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 AM Friday, February 14, 2014, Our Lady Of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls, MN
Visitation: 5-7 PM, Thursday, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church
