Betty Odness

Betty Marie Odness was born on October 24, 1928, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Carl and Milla (Anderson) Ranstad. She was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Battle Lake and graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1946.
Betty and Charles Odness were married on December 2, 1950, in the Trinity Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived in Wahpeton and in 1954, moved to their home on West Battle Lake. She worked for the Battle Lake Hatchery, then stayed home and raised her boys, before starting with the Battle Lake Public School as a bookkeeper where she was employed for over twenty-five years.
Betty enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, knitting, sewing, quilting, and loved watching the weather channel. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake.
On July 26, 2016, Betty died at the Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, Minnesota.
She is survived by three sons, Greg (Wanda) Odness of Walker, Gary Odness of Battle Lake and Brian (Lauri) Odness of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Jodi (Adam) Sorenson, Eric (Ambra) Odness, Shawn (Kathie) Thomson, Aron (Dawn) Carlisle, Kyle and Ethan Odness; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Dick (June) Ranstad of Battle Lake; and by numerous relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Odness; parents, Carl and Milla Ranstad and brother, Larry Ranstad.
