Betty Hauge

Betty Hauge, 82, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Betty Arlene Hauge was born on January 19, 1934 in Maplewood Township, rural Erhard, Minnesota, the daughter of Ludvig and Mildred (Rogers) Severson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Maplewood Lutheran Church, attended rural School District #161 in Maplewood Township, graduating from Washington High School in Fergus Falls.

Betty and Arlo "Rusty" Hauge were married on July 15, 1950 in Fergus Falls. After their marriage, they lived in Fergus Falls where Betty was a waitress for Rasmussen Café, City Bakery, and then with Dixie Donut for many years.

Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed people, was proud of her two children, Kevin and Karin, and the lights of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty's hobbies were doing word find puzzles, Yahtzee, and bringing goodies to her grandchildren. She especially loved her poodle, Fee Fee.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Karin Ernst of Bismarck, ND; son, Kevin (Judy) Hauge of Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla) of West Fargo, ND, Brittany and Brady (and friend, Jackie) Hauge of Fargo, ND, Blaine Ernst of Bismarck, ND, and Tyler Ernst of Hillsboro, ND; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Hunter and Ava; brother, Earl Severson of Fergus Falls; brother-in-law, Rich Hindt of Iona; good friend, Helen Richter; special niece, Barb (Daryl) Ecker, who helped her often; many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and friend Dorothy Moen, who so faithfully visited her at PioneerCare.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rusty; great-grandson, Carter Lee Hauge; and two sisters, Joann Hindt and Marcella Huckaby.
