Barbara Johnson

Barbara Jean (Banks) Johnson died at her home in Fergus Falls on October 16, 2014.

The daughter of Anna (McKenna) and Clarence Banks, Barbara was born at Southhampton, Long Island, New York and was christened at St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays, Long Island, New York.

Graduating with honors from Westhampton Beach High School, her first employment was as secretary/bookkeeper at the Hampton Chronicle; second employment was as Administrative Supervisor at the Suffolk County Air Force Base.

On October 23, 1955, Barbara married Robert F. Johnson of Fullerton, North Dakota. In the spring of 1956, upon Robert's discharge from the service, the couple moved to Fargo, North Dakota. Barbara worked for the Veteran's Administration as a Claims Examiner.

In June 1959, a final move was made to Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Two children were born, Robert and Holly.

Barbara enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch; she was an avid collector of porcelain houses in particular the Dickens' Village pieces. She also loved to read, grow roses, and travel.

Preceding her in death are her parents; three sisters Elizabeth (Elbridge) Tuthill, Mae (Robert) Carlough and Agnes (Larry) Pliler.

Survivors are her husband Robert; two children, Robert (Elizabeth) and Holly and two grandchildren, Charles and Molly.

Memorial Service: 3 PM Sunday, October 19, 2014, at The Federated Church, Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services.

Clergy: Pastor Doug Dent

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls

Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice or the donor's choice.
