Amanda Sem

August 14, 1987 — April 16, 2015

Amanda Sem, 27, Fergus Falls, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at her home with family by her side.

Amanda Sem was born August 14, 1987 to Loren and Kristi Sem. She was baptized and confirmed at Tingvold Lutheran Church, rural Underwood. She graduated with honors from Underwood High School in 2005. She was on the Dean's list at MSUM and graduated with honors, receiving her degree in Social Work in 2010. While in school she worked for CCRI (Creative Care for Reaching Independence) assisting adults with disabilities and also Target.

She then moved to Minot, ND to pursue her dream as an adoption worker for children with PATH/AASK (Adults Adopting Special Kids). She placed numerous children with their forever families. The numbers don't compare to the number of kids and families she impacted with her unending support. She was also part of trying to get the adoptive parent support going there. In August of 2012 she moved to Fargo and accepted a new position with PATH to be closer to family.

Her heroic battle with cancer started in September 2012 but it did not slow her down. She worked at the Children's Corner in Fergus Falls as a pre-school teacher and loved her kids. If you have kids, you could see her passion to make the world a better place one kid at a time.

Amanda also loved to cook, which she got from her Grandma Jensen. She had a passion for making fabulous meals for us to enjoy, serving up something different every day.

In May of 2013 she was given the love of a Yorkie pup named Chewbacca "Chewie," and they became best friends immediately. He grew to love and protect his mama and is so much fun to have around.

Amanda has shown extreme love for her two nephews, Austin & Darius and her niece, Sarianna, spending time with them whenever possible in addition to numerous "adopted" nieces and nephews.

In 2014 Amanda purchased her first house and proceeded to make it home with her natural interior design talents. Amanda took on her mom's passion of photography and captured incredible photos to grace her walls.

Amanda's unwavering faith in our Lord has brought her through many obstacles and she has overcome them all.

Per Amanda's request- a celebration of her life will be held on May 1st from 4:30 to 7pm at her parents' home, 27959 Little Pleasant Drive, Underwood, MN.

Memorials may be sent to Lakeland Hospice and Homecare, Fergus Falls, MN
