Eva Lystad
Eva Lystad, age 100, of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, September
10, 2002 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.
She
was born December 13, 1901 in Fergus Falls the daughter
of John and Bertha (Evanson) Aagren. She was baptized
and confirmed at Hedemarken Lutheran Church. She attended
school in Fergus Falls and also in North Dakota where
she lived with her family for many years.
On
December 16, 1953, she married Henry Lystad at the Lutheran
Parsonage in Rothsay. After marriage, they lived on a
farm near Carlisle. Henry passed away on January 28, 1977.
She
enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Hedemarken
Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and was also a member
of the Sons of Norway.
She
is survived by her son, Wallace (Annette) Aagren of Fergus
Falls; two grandchildren, Thomas and Brent; and several
nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband; three brothers, Herb, Juel, and Lester; and
two sisters, Mabel and Cora.
In
lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Hedemarken
Cemetery Fund.

R. Holo
Theoline R. Holo, age 81,
of rural Battle Lake died Tuesday at the Pelican Lake
Health Care Center in Ashby.
She
was born July 25, 1921 in St. Olaf Township near Dalton
to Theodore and Emma (Pederson) Risbrudt where she grew
up and attended School District #2. She was baptized and
confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
On
November 2, 1950, she married Herbert M. Holo in the Lutheran
Parsonage in Dalton. After marriage, they lived in Battle
Lake until 1952 when they moved to the Risbrudt Family
Farm where they Dairy Farmed.
She
was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, active with Ladies
Aid and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed
farming, gardening and flowers, and especially her grandchildren.
On
Tuesday, September 10, 2002, Theoline passed away at the
Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby at the age of
81 years.
She
is survived by her husband, Herbert; two sons, Wayne (Bethe)
Holo and Dale (Sandy) Holo both of Dalton; two grandchildren,
Dane and Emma Holo; one sister, Irene Thompson of Ashby;
and a brother-in-law, Herbert Romanek of Floodwood. She
was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Truman
and Alton; and five sisters, Myrtle Fick, Grace Fellet,
Evelyn Anderson, Lorraine Romanek, and LaVonne Nelson.

Services: Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church,
rural Ashby
Visitation:
Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:30
p.m. with family present from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Nilson
Funeral Home in Ashby and one hour prior to the Service
at the Church

Meagher
Virginia Meagher, age 91, of Fargo, ND died Wednesday,
September 11, 2002, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park,
MN.
She
was born June 9, 1911 in Bemidji, MN and raised in Grafton,
ND. She married Duncan Meagher on June 7, 1936 and they
made their home in Park River, ND. In their retirement
years they spent winters in Mesa, AZ and summers at their
lake home in Park Rapids, MN. Duncan preceded her in death
in 1985.
She
is survived by two daughters, Susan (Jay) Myster of Fergus
Falls, MN, and Nancy (Larry) Budish of Fargo, ND; and
five grandchildren, Shannon (Chad) Schaefer of Rogers,
MN, Bradley (Kim) Budish of Muenster, TX, Stephanie Budish
of Allen, TX, Douglas Myster of Flagstaff, AZ, and Robert
Myster of Fergus Falls, MN. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Duncan; her parents; two brothers; and
five sisters.

Holo
Alice Nina Holo, age 81, of Battle Lake died Sunday, September
15, 2002 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle
Lake.
Alice
was born on February 1, 1921 in Austad Township, rural
Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Ludvig and Gustava
(Norvik) Mekalson. She was baptized and confirmed in the
Grue Lutheran Church, rural Ashby and graduated from the
Battle Lake High School in 1939.
Alice
married Gordon Holo on December 19, 1940 in the Lutheran
Parsonage in Dalton, Minnesota. After their marriage they
lived in the Battle Lake area until moving to their present
farm south of Battle Lake in 1948.
She
was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, entertaining family
and friends and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Alice was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the
American Legion Auxillary both of Battle Lake.
Alice
is survived by her husband, Gordon; one daughter, Sandra
(Don) Schatschneider of Battle Lake; one son, Gerald (Jeri
Wilmore) Holo of Battle Lake; four grandchildren, Jennifer
(Jason Keeping) Scatschneider of Fargo, N.D., Chad Holo
of Omaha, Neb., Jessica and Sarah Holo of Fargo, N.D.;
one sister, Hazel Dyrland of Battle Lake and numerous
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded
in death by four sisters, Inga Johnson, Lillie Langren,
Sarah Albertson, and Gunda Glemaker; and two brothers,
Marvin and Roy Mekalson.

Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Nilson Funeral Home, Battle
Lake and one hour prior to the service at the Church

Evelyn A.
Waite
Evelyn A. Waite, age 95, of Battle Lake died Monday, September
23, 2002 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
She
was born March 21, 1907 to Edward F. and Amelia P. (Sutter)
Schultz. She was baptized in June of 1998 in Bass Lake.
She graduated from Waseca High School in 1923. After graduation,
she attended Hamline University where she graduated with
a degree in Accounting.
She
married John D. Waite in Milbank, South Dakota. After
marriage, the lived in Breckenridge, Minneapolis, and
then Denver, Colorado prior to returning to the Battle
Lake area in 1977. She was a school teacher and taught
in Stewartville, Wahpeton, and Breckenridge. Following
her teaching career, she became a homemaker.
She
enjoyed gardening, cooking, the Minnesota Vikings, and
her family.
She
is survived by her daughter, Joan Fielding of Battle Lake;
a sister, Marian (Harry) Woodfill of Tuscon, AZ; three
grandchildren, John Fielding of Fargo, ND, Michael (Kristina)
Fielding of Battle Lake, and Evelyn Fielding of Grand
Rapids; and four great-grandchildren, Michael C., Dianna,
Michael D. and Meaghan. She was preceded in death by her
husband, John; one grandson, Christopher Fielding; two
brothers, Warren and Harvey Schultz; and one sister, Gertrude
Dalbotten.

Hanson Carlson
Elna Hanson Carlson, 78, of Ashby died Wednesday, September
25, 2002 at ELEAH Medical Center in Elbow Lake.
She was born February 2, 1924 in Holmes
City, MN to Albert and Hilda (Oberg) Hanson. After graduating
from the Alexandria High School she worked as a telephone
operator, an office manager and secretary for Hagman Dental
Lab and then as a machine operator at Toro Manufacturing.
On May 14, 1947 she married Roger Carlson
in Alexandria. She loved gardening, sewing, embroidering,
hunting and fishing and singing with her sisters in duets,
trios and quartets for many occasions. She was a member
of the American Legion Auxiliary, Peace Lutheran Church
and Harjedalen Foreningen.
She is survived by her husband, Roger;
sister, Avis Luetgers of Alexandria; brother, Albert (Sandy)
Hanson of Holmes City and many nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Melba Berg
and Harriet Berg; brother, Orville Hanson; nephew, Wesley
Hanson and three baby girls who died at birth.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service
at the Church
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran
Church in Ashby
